Above is a small selection of photos from an engagement party held at Dukes Hotel, in the Drawing Room and Conservatory overlooking a peaceful courtyard garden. As a London wedding and engagement photographer, I always like to get portraits of the couple, just the two of them, the ring of course, family group photos, any speeches and then lots and lots of candid pictures of everyone having fun -but always making sure all guests look their best. It was lovely to get a few nice and relaxed photos of the bride-to-be as well before capturing details of the venue: the room set up, drinks etc. This engagement party was held two weeks before Christmas, so I also wanted to include a few detail shots of the decorations.

The small drawing room of Dukes Hotel was quite crammed with around 80 of the couple's friends and family attending, but it created a fantastic atmosphere! The staff at Dukes Hotel are very friendly and helpful, too: there was no space in the Drawing Room to do family group photos so we were very kindly allowed to take over a corner of the reception for this. And even though we only had 2-3 minutes for the couple's portraits, the entrance to Dukes Hotel was the perfect place for it.

Dukes London is a sophisticated luxury boutique hotel hidden down a quiet cul-de-sac in upmarket Mayfair, in London SW1E. The elegant little hotel also includes an upscale restaurant and a champagne bar. It is situated in close proximity to Whitehall, Buckingham Palace, Victoria Station, Green Park tube and Westminster.
